| Lochnagar is a
delightful three bedroom self catering holiday
cottage, situated in the West Highland
village of Arisaig. It stands in a very private peaceful position with
superb, uninterrupted views across the Sound of Arisaig to Eigg and
the mountains of Rum, with glorious sunset views from the windows.

| Interior | ||
| This deceptively spacious, centrally-heated cottage has recently been
updated, redecorated, close carpeted and furnished in traditional
style. The sitting-room, which has a sensational view, is well
furnished with comfortable chairs and sofas, an open fire,
well-stocked bookcase, writing desk, radio and T.V. There is direct
access to the garden from here. The kitchen contains all the
most up to date equipment including a dishwasher and freezer, and is
generously supplied with crockery, cutlery and cookware. From here
guests access the dining room which has a large refectory table
and chairs. The three bedrooms, consisting two double bedrooms and a twin bedded room with two single beds, are comfortably furnished with plenty of hanging and storage space. There is a bathroom and shower room, each with a loo. The front door leads into the traditionally wood-lined hall with many coat hooks. All linen, duvets etc. are provided but not beach towels. If you wish to watch Sky television, please bring your Sky card. Shopping, in advance of arrival, and collection of visitors from the station can be arranged. The cottage caretaker is Allan MacDonald who will be on hand to welcome you and see you comfortably settled in. Allan will also be on call during your stay, should you require him. |

| There is a gated driveway with parking for two cars and a boat. The charming, mature garden is very private, not overlooked and enjoys an abundant bird life and views over the loch. | ||

Local area |
||
| The house stands in the heart of the village and is just minutes away
from the village shop, post office, hotel, restaurants, churches,
railway station, medical centre and marina. Nearby are white sandy
beaches and an abundance of walks in beautiful scenery. We also have a
local Ranger who conducts organised walking parties in the surrounding
area. Arisaig is steeped in history and it was at Loch nan Uamh, some 5 miles away, that Prince Charles Edward Stuart landed in 1745 and precipitated the Jacobite Rebellion which was to have such an effect on the area. There are many lovely and interesting places to visit from your base at Lochnagar. You can take a boat trip to Eigg, Rum or Canna and spot the minke and hump-backed whales, dolphins, porpoises and seals. The skipper of M.V. Shearwater will stop and let you enjoy the display and take photographs. Go to the fishing village of Mallaig and sail up Loch Nevis amid spectacular mountains, to Knoydart, known as “the last wilderness area in Britain”. From Mallaig you can also take the car ferry over the sea to Skye. Visit Loch Morar, the deepest fresh-water loch in Europe and host to its own monster, named Morag. Castle Tioram, the ruined stronghold of the Clanranald MacDonalds, is some 20 plus miles away, at Dorlin and, whilst in that area, perhaps you would like to visit the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, which stands on the most westerly point of mainland Britain. All this is just a sample of the delights which await you but, perhaps, you might just prefer to relax and enjoy the ambience of this quiet, beautiful, village which nestles at the head of Loch na Ceall. The choice is yours. May we wish you the traditional Highland welcome. Fàilte. |
