A self catering farm cottage near the beach |
|
Laggan Stables is a comfortable, spacious, single storey self catering holiday cottage on a 450 acre dairy farm, in a quiet area near the coast and the delightful village of Ballantrae.
The cottage is equipped for 6 adults and 2 children in three bedrooms. The hallway leads into a spacious living room with a settee, easy chairs, TV and open fire. From here there is access to the kitchen, with electric cooker, microwave and fridge freezer, the bathroom and the largest bedroom. This has a double bed and a set of children’s bunk beds. Bedroom 2 is also a double bedded room, while bedroom 3 has two single beds. A cot is available on request. The tariff includes all bed linen, tea towels and fuel for the fire. Electricity is calculated by meter reading at the end of the stay and is charged at domestic rate. Well-behaved pets are accepted by arrangement, as there are cattle sheds nearby. Outside there is parking for 3 cars. |

Local area |
||
|
The area is excellent for walking, viewing wildlife, fishing, touring and golf, with many excellent local courses, including Turnberry and Royal Troon. Within a short distance are castles, including Culzean Castle and Country Park, craft shops and interesting gardens. Ballantrae is a pleasant coastal village, about a mile from the cottage, with good local services and tennis courts. It is sited on a spectacular stretch of coastline and has a shingle beach and a nature reserve.
Day
trips to Northern Ireland are possible via ferry from Stranraer and
the shops of Ayr are only a 30 minute train ride away. The south west
coast enjoys a very mild climate due to the Gulf Stream, so is an
ideal location for summer holidays and out of season breaks. |
