Nearby is a toddlers’ playground. A footpath passing the steam railway of TVs "Glenbogle" brings visitors to the shops, pubs & restaurants of Aviemore in about 7 minutes. (Just 5 minutes by car). Aviemore is a popular destination for visitors all year round. Especially appealing to winter sports enthusiasts when the snow covers the mountains, it is an excellent base for exploring the wilderness of the Cairngorms National Park, the largest National Park in Britain, and Rothiemurchus Forest. From here guests can enjoy relaxed walks along forest tracks and rugged hikes. Also good birdwatching (including ospreys), plentiful wildlife, fishing, snow and dry slope skiing, swimming, curling, golfing, clay pigeon shooting and husky sleds. The famous Whisky Trail can be followed from here with the Cardhu and Glenlivet Distilleries both nearby. Good inexpensive dining is available locally. Other activities include canoeing, dinghy sailing, windsurfing, pony trekking, visiting a reindeer herd, a Wildlife Park, steam train rides and mountain biking with bike hire available. Or just relax! |
