Argyll is very popular for walking holidays, cycling, fishing, sailing, canoeing and golf. There are also various historic places of interest nearby including Dunstaffnage Castle and Kilchurn Castle, as well as famous Argyll gardens. The popular harbour town of Oban is only 12 miles along the coast from the Isle of Seil and offers an excellent choice of shops, restaurants, cinema, island boat trips, leisure facilities and the famous Oban Scotch Whisky Distillery. Oban is known as "the Gateway to the Isles", and ferries can be taken to various Scottish west coast islands including Mull, Tiree, Coll, Colonsay, Barra, South Uist, Islay Lismore, Staffa and Iona.

Following the defeat of the Jacobite Army at Culloden and Bonnie Prince Charlie's subsequent flight from Scotland, the Government banned the use of the Gaelic language and the wearing of tartan and the kilt. The islanders from Easdale and Seil would change from their traditional garb at the Inn beside the bridge before crossing to the mainland. The inn to this day is still known as 'Tigh an Truish' - "the house of the trousers" - it's a great place for lunch or supper!

There is glorious walking in the local area - the stunning West Highland scenery is endless and the walking is suitable for all levels of experience from trekking up Ben Cruachan, Glencoe or the local Munros to a gentle stroll along beautiful local shoreline. Whilst on holiday here you can enjoy organised whale and wildlife boat trips at Sealife Adventures and Seafari. There are also many opportunities for fishing, golf and cycling - or just relaxing in the peace and quiet!
